(Tribute to Lorenzo Quinn)

5 May 2016
Acrylic and Charcoal on Canvas
120cm x 150cm
Buanaseni Studio Shah Alam

The women statue pulling the Earth is a reproduction of a statue sculpted by Lorenzo Quinn (above) using bronze, stainless steel, and aluminium in 2012 in New York. For this art work, I have changed the Earth to portray my aesthetic style. The message that I am conveying is pretty much the same as Lorenzo's. According to his website his statue is called The Force of Nature II where he narrated the following (that perfectly convey what I had in mind even before I read about him and his statue:

"We humans think of ourselves as supreme beings, above all others and in absolute control of our destiny and our surroundings. We live with a false sense of security only to be awakened by Mother Nature’s fury, almost as if she needs to remind us of her presence and our responsibility towards her child (The Earth)."
