ENANG trishaw or affectionately referred to as "beca" is an interesting way of sight seeing in the city of Georgetown, Penang. You will be able to cover every historical buildings (such as this colonial bungalow) of the strait settlement via its heritage trails in an eco-friendly mode of transportation. Made out of a bicycle and roofed 2-seater bench attached to the bicycle. Famous for young couples going for date 20 years ago and famous for old couples remembering their youth days today.
I have travelled the world and never anywhere have I seen a trishaw other than in Penang and its sister strait settlement, Melacca. Presumably, Hong Kong or Macau ought to have but to my disappointment, none appeared during my visit to those oriental places. My next bet would be Adelaide Australia given that Adelaide is a sister city to Penang having founded by the same colonial master, Francis Light. So I reckon the mayor of Penang must have donated one to the Downunder city. Anyone from Adelaide? Have you seen one down there? Do update me.
This particular photo is a row of beca but the apparent one is beca with the registration number: 648
